Naughty Dog, the acclaimed development studio known for iconic franchises like Uncharted and The Last of Us, is working on its next ambitious video game titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Although it has not released new titles in recent years, the gaming community remains eager. During The Game Awards 2024, the first trailer for the game was presented, which has increased interest among fans, even though an imminent release is not expected.
A game that they are already enjoying in the office
Neil Druckmann, director of the game and head of Naughty Dog, revealed in a recent interview that the team is already playing an internal version of it, and expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “I will say that we are playing it in the office and it is incredible. It is really good,” Druckmann commented, suggesting that what has been shown so far is just “the tip of the iceberg.” This new title will focus on faith and religion in a fictional world called Sempiria, where the protagonist, Jordan, will uncover intriguing secrets.
The project has more than 250 people working to develop an ambitious narrative, reflecting the magnitude of the effort that Naughty Dog is putting into this game. However, it has been indicated that Intergalactic will not be released in either 2025 or 2026. According to journalist Jason Schreier, the game could take several more years, while other titles like The Witcher 4 could arrive in 2027.
Additionally, Druckmann has hinted that it is possible fans may never see a third installment of The Last of Us, which opens the door to speculation about the future of the studio and its franchises. With Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog seeks once again to leave an indelible mark on the video game industry, continuing its legacy of deep narratives and innovative gameplay.
