The new set of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Scarlet and Violet: Black Flame / White Flame, has arrived in stores with an attractive proposal that includes 156 cards with alternative illustrations, focused on the creatures from the Unova region, highlighting Zekrom and Reshiram. This approach of offering standard and artistic alternative versions had already been successful before with set 151, rekindling interest in card collecting in the West.
Letters that keep increasing in price
However, availability issues persist, and prices have seen a significant increase since the release of the previous set. Some rare cards, such as the BW Rares chases of Zekrom ex and Reshiram ex, can reach values exceeding 500 dollars, which has led collectors to consider the option of acquiring individual cards instead of trying to complete a full set.
Among the standout cards of the new set are Miraidon ex and Zekrom ex, which provide valuable abilities to gameplay strategies. Miraidon ex allows for energy acceleration, something that greatly benefits players, while Zekrom ex presents an intriguing method to scale damage based on the number of prize cards the opponent has, making it a potential late-game attacker.
However, the set is not without controversies. The new policy of the Pokémon TCG Live app has reduced the amount of credits earned from duplicate cards, making it even more difficult to collect cards in the digital realm. Additionally, restrictions have been implemented for the redemption of AR/SR cards, further limiting the options for collectors.
Thus, Fulgor Negro / Llama Blanca is configured as one of the most solid sets in terms of gameplay, although the current market context and the new policies are aspects that collectors must take into account before delving into this new collection.
