At this point, the rumor of a possible The Sims movie is not something new to the fans of the saga. Fortunately, the news has stopped being a rumor and has become a reality. Finally, Electronic Arts has confirmed that we will see the game adapted to the big screen.
In an extensive post published on EA’s official page, the company has announced that Amazon MGM Studios will be responsible for a movie based on The Sims. It will be co-written by Briony Redman and Kate Herron, who will also be in charge of directing.
In addition, we believe that the franchise will be in good hands. The creative duo wrote for the current Doctor Who series. On the other hand, Herron directed the first season of Loki, available on Disney Plus.
As if that weren’t enough, the production efforts will include LuckyChap, the company of Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and Sophia Kerr, which is behind Barbie and Saltburn. Alongside LuckyChap, Vertigo Entertainment and of course, EA will also be involved. For now, the company says it is still ‘early’ to share more information and urges us to wait until next year, when the franchise will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
