Satires are a genre in themselves in cinema. From the creatively crazy films like Sharknado to the homages of great sagas like Spaceballs, it is clear that they have their own audience that makes them work despite being very low budget.
But, among all the film satires, there is one that no one expected and that has been a complete success among the B-movie audience: Anatar. Directed by Alan Smithee with a screenplay by Salvatore Scarico, this Italian film “pays homage” to Avatar in a way that no one expects: with ducks instead of the Na’vi protagonists. It has just arrived on Prime Video, and its trailer looks like this:
Alien blue ducks
In Anatar, a group of alien ducks search for a new home after destroying their planet. Upon arriving at Pandoro, a harmonious world, they navigate through a strange environment, experiencing love, conflicts, and cultural clashes. It is a low-budget parody with makeup that is more scary than anything else. However, if you want a good laugh, there’s nothing better to watch.
