It was a matter of time to give this news, but it has finally become a reality. Deadpool & Wolverine, the third part of Deadpool in which the Merc with a Mouth teams up with Wolverine in a multiversal adventure, has already surpassed 1 billion dollars at the global box office. It is now among the 55 movies that have achieved this figure throughout history, and the 11th in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe to do so.
To celebrate this historic figure, the official Marvel Studios account has uploaded a video in which they celebrate the record of worldwide box office sales. However, we are still far from what could be the final box office tally of Deadpool & Wolverine, as it still has several weeks in theaters and could surpass the numbers of some of the Avengers films.
Mutants are back in fashion
Although it is still early to confirm if it will reach such aspirational figures, it is clear that Ryan Reynolds has succeeded with Deadpool & Wolverine, a risky film that includes the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and serves as the culmination of the Fox Cinematic Universe.
At the expense of knowing what happens to the MCU now that the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom has been announced, and knowing that Kevin Feige’s plans have been forced to change over the years, it is clear that Deadpool has become a fundamental piece of this future.
What will happen when Deadpool and Wolverine join the rest of the Avengers? Surely, it will be something that we can see in Avengers: Doomsday or, perhaps, in Avengers: Secret Wars. Meanwhile, all we can do is wait to see what this character surprises us with in the future.
