This mobile game with over 50 million players has just released a sequel: Archero 2 exists
When we talk about figures in mobile video games, we are always dealing with numbers that start to become difficult to comprehend. 50 million players is a very hard number to imagine. We understand, in an abstract way, that it is a very large number of players, but it is difficult for us to grasp just how large that figure really is: we are talking about almost three million more than the population of Spain. And quite a few more people than the entire population of Spain have downloaded Archero. Archero is a mobile game developed by the studio Habby, released on March 24, 2019, […]
When we talk about figures in mobile video games, we are always dealing with numbers that start to become difficult to comprehend. 50 million players is a very hard figure to imagine. We understand, in an abstract way, that it is a very large number of players, but it is difficult for us to conceive just how truly large that figure is: we are talking about nearly three million more than the population of Spain. And quite a few more people than the entire population of Spain have downloaded Archero.
Archero is a mobile game developed by the studio Habby, released on March 24, 2019, with a very simple premise. We are an archer and we have to defend our land from the invasion of fearsome waves of monsters. With a system that is easy to learn but difficult to master, countless cosmetics, secondary systems, and new challenges, Archero is a game that has captivated the audience. And not without good reason.
Hence, the surprise launch of Archero 2 has caused a bit of a shock. No one expected the sequel to this game, let alone that it would be released without any fanfare. But with a catch. It has been released in a soft launch exclusively in Canada.
For those unfamiliar with this concept, a soft launch is a release that is carried out in a limited number of territories to test the commercial viability of a particular product. In this way, a country or region is usually chosen that allows for close monitoring, as well as making the most accurate possible extrapolation of the data obtained on a global scale. This is exactly where Archero 2 is at.
Although this confirms the existence of Archero 2, it does not imply that we will see it soon in the rest of the world. It is common for soft launches to be extended for months and even for the product to be withdrawn for a time before being relaunched globally, this time with the marketing machinery in full swing. In any case, if the game performs well, we can expect to see Archero 2 on our phones in the coming years.
