TikTok has been reinstalled in the Apple App Store and Google Play, following an announcement from its parent company, ByteDance, allowing the app to be downloaded in the U.S.
This measure comes in the context of uncertainty surrounding the future of the platform, which has faced bans due to concerns about the possible sharing of user data with the Chinese government, an accusation that ByteDance firmly denies.
On January 19, 2025, TikTok was blocked in the U.S. as a result of a law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok’s operations in the country to a U.S. company or suspend its operations.

Although the U.S. government had expressed concerns about data security, the reinstallation of the app suggests a shift in the authorities’ position.
