Toyota has officially announced the return of the C-HR as a fully electric SUV in the United States, set to debut in 2026.
The once-popular compact SUV, which was discontinued in 2022, is making a comeback with an array of modern features and a sleek design reminiscent of the new Corolla and Crown models.
The C-HR EV will offer a driving range of up to 290 miles, powered by a 74.7 kWh battery, allowing users to venture further without frequent charging interruptions.
Get Ready for the Electric C-HR: Up to 338 Horsepower and 290-Mile Range
The 2026 C-HR boasts impressive specifications, featuring all-wheel drive and generating up to 338 horsepower. This power enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 5 seconds.
Such performance make this SUV competitive in a market increasingly focused on electric vehicles. The new model retains the distinctive “hammerhead front end,” complemented by slim LED headlights and refined character lines, positioning it as a stylish option for consumers.
Inside, the C-HR will include a robust technology suite, highlighted by a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside the advanced Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 safety suite.
Additional features will encompass a digital driver display, wireless phone chargers, and options for 18 or 20-inch wheels. The C-HR will be available in SE and XSE trims, with the latter offering premium interior finishes and additional tech enhancements.
In addition to the electric variant, Toyota plans to offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell options for the C-HR, further expanding its appeal to environmentally conscious consumers. The expected starting price for this new model is around $35,000, although official pricing details have yet to be confirmed. Toyota’s commitment to electric mobility is evident as the C-HR follows closely on the heels of the recently unveiled bZ electric SUV lineup.
