Apple is preparing one of the most significant updates in the history of its virtual assistant, Siri: integration with ChatGPT. According to a recent discovery in the internal code made by MacRumors, this integration is in full development and it is most likely that we will see it in the form of a beta version sooner rather than later.
The biggest change in Siri’s history
The integration of ChatGPT with Siri was officially announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference last June, as part of the Apple Intelligence feature set. This integration will allow Siri to handle more complex queries by delegating them to ChatGPT, which will provide detailed and accurate responses. Additionally, according to the discovered code, Siri will be able to generate both text and images through this integration, significantly expanding its capabilities.
Apple will not store requests made to ChatGPT through Siri, and our privacy will be protected by hiding IP addresses. Unlike Apple Intelligence systems, which summarize or correct an already given text, ChatGPT will have the ability to create content from scratch.
Another feature in development is Visual Intelligence, designed for iPhone 16 users and its Camera Control. With a tap, the device’s camera will recognize objects and places, providing us with relevant information, if necessary with the help of ChatGPT.
We are waiting for Apple Intelligence to arrive, for now without integration with ChatGPT, in the upcoming iOS 18.1 scheduled for October 28. Around this date, we should also see the first beta of iOS 18.2, which will indeed feature the integration for which references have already been discovered. Looking at the calendar, there is little time left for what will be the biggest change for Siri in its entire history.
