Threads, Meta’s “Twitter”, is moving steadily. The social network has already managed to build a significant base of 175 million active users, a data confirmed by Mark Zuckerberg himself last Tuesday.
Much of Threads’ growth comes from its promotion within Instagram, a platform that currently has over 1.2 billion active users. At least that’s what Meta employees explain, as reported by The Verge. Both applications share the same account system, which has certainly benefited Threads a lot.
Although at first glance 175 million users may not seem like a lot, Zuckerberg has blind faith in his product. In fact, he believes that it can become the next social network of Meta that reaches one billion, like Instagram itself. To achieve this goal, the company has set its sights on countries like Japan, where it believes it can snatch users from X.
The truth is that X’s situation is not great either. According to the data collected by Statista, after Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, active users have decreased. Currently, the figure is around 357 million, which, although it is double that of Threads, represents a decrease compared to the 368 million in 2022.
