Volkswagen has revealed that it will present the electric T-Cross, known as ID.2X, during the IAA Mobility in Munich in September 2023.
This new addition to their line of electric vehicles is scheduled to hit the market in 2026 and is expected to have a starting price of around 30,000 euros.
The ID.2X, which is a larger version of the ID.2, will replace the popular T-Cross SUV. This model will be available with a single front motor and will offer two battery options: 38 kWh and 58 kWh, allowing for a range of up to approximately 280 miles (450 km) under the WLTP cycle.
VW’s Lifeline in the Electric Market
The CEO of Volkswagen, Thomas Schäfer, mentioned in a LinkedIn post that the ID.2X and other accessible electric models reflect the brand’s ambitions for 2025, highlighting that this SUV is the “final model in the lineup,” following the introduction of the CURPA Raval and the ID.2. Volkswagen strives to assert that the ID.2 is described as “spacious as a Golf and affordable as a Polo,” showcasing its commitment to accessibility in the electric vehicle market.
The interior of the ID.2X will feature a completely revamped design, which will include a 12.9-inch infotainment screen and a 10.9-inch driver display.
In addition, different driving modes will be presented, such as “Classic” and “Vintage,” which will be inspired by iconic models like the Beetle and the Golf.
In another announcement, Volkswagen also plans to showcase the ID.EVERY1, a new entry-level electric vehicle that is expected to be priced around 20,000 euros, on March 5, 2024, further underscoring the brand’s strategy to offer affordable electric options for all consumers.
