We never got to see season 2 of ‘The Acolyte,’ but it was going to bring new developments to ‘Star Wars’

If you were on the Internet in 2024, the words The Acolyte probably give you cold sweats. Everyone had an opinion about the Star Wars prequel, even though very few had actually seen it. However, those of us who hung in there can assure you the ending was spectacular and set season 2 in a very interesting direction… if it weren’t for the fact that Disney ran out of patience and canceled it without a second thought. Now we know what they had planned and… is it too late to demand its return?

The cancellation wars

We’ve now learned that Leslye Headland, its showrunner, had a bible for seasons 2 and 3, with the episode plots sketched out: in the first episode of the second season, for example, we’d have Osha, under Qimir’s guidance, in a gladiator arena run by the Hutts, and the Jedi Order would have to look for her before she fully turned to the Dark Side.

Darth Plagueis would have appeared more, ordering Qimir and Osha to kill several characters, as part of a gigantic conspiracy. In the end, the Sith master’s pressure on the apprentice would lead to a confrontation between Qimir and Plagueis, with the latter winning easily and leaving him on the brink of death. His apprentice would save him and there would be a surprisingly sexual scene, the first in Star Wars history, “becoming one with the Force sensually”. Ew.

That’s how season 3 would begin, with master and apprentice joined in a relationship, aligned with neither the Jedi nor the Sith, having to choose their side in the battle. Frankly? It sounds much more interesting than the vast majority of things we’ve gotten from the franchise, but since not many people gave it a chance… we’re left wondering. The Force wasn’t with us.
