Finally, we have the most anticipated image: James Gunn’s Superman has been revealed in a first image where we can see the actor, David Corenswet, dressed as the famous superhero. In this way, we have been able to see a first photograph of what the Superman suit will look like, with all that it entails —anger on social media and hype at the same time—.

But the image of Superman has left many more clues than the suit itself. It has also revealed some details that many are overlooking… and that we must take into account.
1. What’s happening behind Superman?
The most striking thing about the image is, without a doubt, the background: we see that the city of Metropolis is being besieged and Superman is getting ready to go on another adventure. But who could this villain be? The colors give some clues.
The main suspect is a very powerful former enemy of Superman: Brainiac. Although it has not been confirmed in the cast, this interstellar villain uses these colors… and these powers. So, beyond Lex Luthor, we might get to see him.

2. Who is fighting against Superman’s enemy?
But we not only see this possible enemy, but someone… is fighting with him! Gunn has confirmed that this movie will not be an origin story, and we also know that it will be set in a superhero universe. Seen this way, there is someone who could perfectly be the one who shoots the green beam: Green Lantern.
Nathan Fillion has been confirmed as Guy Gardner, one of DC Comics’ most popular Green Lanterns. And, if that’s the case, it wouldn’t be surprising if he was the one to fight against this villain before Superman’s arrival.

3. A more colorful movie… to a certain extent
Gunn’s arrival to the Superman universe means one thing: we’re going back to the brightest superhero after years of darkness with Zack Snyder. Or at least that’s what it seems at first glance, but the colors don’t fully show this. In fact, it seems like it will still be a rather dark movie. We’ll see.

4. A more classic suit… to a certain extent
In the same way, the suit also seems somewhat more classic, especially because of one detail: the underwear on the outside! But that doesn’t mean it’s an outdated suit, far from it. In fact, we see how it is largely based on the New 52 Superman, so it may mix present and past independently.
