SpaceX has already activated the countdown for what will be the first launch of the world’s largest rocket: Starship. If all goes according to plan, today, April 17, we will see the rocket soar through the atmosphere.
The first Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy rocket are currently scheduled to launch from SpaceX‘s Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas. After getting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for liftoff, Musk‘s company will take advantage of the brief launch window (150 minutes) to put the rocket through the skies.
Where can I watch the launch?
You will be able to follow it through SpaceX’s official YouTube channel, where the event will be broadcasted. The live broadcast will start about 45 minutes before liftoff (7:15 AM EDT or 14:15 in Spain).
SpaceX has broken down on its website all the steps that will be followed at the time of launch along with their times. As mentioned earlier, the company has a tight 150-minute window to make the launch. However, it has been implied that SpaceX may have set aside additional days (April 18 and 19) for other attempts in case there are problems today.
What time will it be launched?
SpaceX plans to launch Starship and Super Heavy between 8:00 and 10:30 AM EDT (15:00-17:30 in Spain). The exact timing of SpaceX will depend on the readiness of Starship and Super Heavy, weather conditions and whether the launch area is clear of any hazards.
