One Piece is nearing its end. Despite Eiichiro Oda having been saying that for a long time, we finally see the first signs of what seems to be its conclusion, and that means that Luffy’s adventures and the rest of the Straw Hat crew will end soon.
But what will happen at the end of One Piece? Taking into account that Oda basically does whatever he wants, and that he never ceases to surprise the audience, nobody seems to have a clear idea. But we do know that there will be a final battle (and more than one), so the only thing left to know is who it will be against. Below, we present you with the five possible final “bosses” of Luffy.
1. Coby
Although it is the least likely option, Coby could be a worthy final rival for Luffy at the end of One Piece. He was the first friend that the pirate met on his adventure, and continuing with the parallelism between Gol D. Roger and Luffy, he could be his last rival, just like Monkey D. Garp was for the former King of the Pirates.

2. Akainu
A more logical villain would be Akainu, the Fleet Admiral of the Navy. This great enemy killed Portgas D. Ace, Luffy’s brother, so the protagonist owes him revenge. However, the manga seems to be heading towards a battle between Akainu and Sabo.

3. Imu
As the manga stands today, everything seems to indicate that we will see a great final battle between Imu, the leader of the World Government, and Luffy. Considering that Luffy represents Nika, it wouldn’t be surprising. And he is such a mysterious character that we still have a lot more to see from him. It would undoubtedly be a spectacular finale.

2. Blackbeard
But until recently, we all believed what seemed most logical; that Luffy would face Marshall D. Teach in this final battle. Blackbeard is the great villain that has been introduced throughout the manga, and his power as a Yonko makes it clear that he can be unbeatable… for everyone except the Straw Hat Pirates?

1. Shanks
But what would be a twist worthy of admiration, and would create a completely rounded work, is for Luffy to face Shanks at the end of the manga. He was his mentor and owes everything to him, so it would be something worth seeing… and more exciting than any other possible ending.
