Artificial intelligence can be very useful in its approach, but in many cases, its uses are far from ethical and morally correct. This is the case of the famous Formula 1 driver, Michael Shumacher.
Recently, the German tabloid Die Aktuelle published an “interview” with Schumacher earlier this week. However, the interview had a gimmick, as it was generated by artificial intelligence. The cover promised to give us an exclusive first interview since the driver suffered a serious brain injury during a skiing accident in December 2013.
In the cover text we can read things like “no sparse, half sentences coming from friends, now he gives the answers!”. In fact, Die Aktuelle jokingly wonders if Schumacher himself had typed the answers from a hospital bed. Finally, the publication admits that the interview has been elaborated using Character.ai, an artificial intelligence chatbot that we already talked about in Softonic.

The German magazine has become the focus of criticism from other publications and motoring journalists due to the insensitivity of the “joke”. The responses generated by the AI write things that “I was so badly injured that I was for months in a kind of artificial coma, because otherwise, my body could not have coped with everything”.
On the other hand, Schumacher’s family is preparing to take legal action against Die Aktuelle, as reported by Reuters and ESPN. Since that fateful December 2013, Schumacher has not been seen in public and his family has sought to maintain his privacy at all costs. A Netflix documentary released last 2021 confirms that the driver resides at home with his family, but his health status is still being kept secret.
