Your PC will remember everything you do thanks to this new AI feature from Microsoft

Microsoft has unveiled Copilot+, an enhanced version of its artificial intelligence assistant, during the annual Build developers conference. The main novelty is the upcoming “Recall” feature, which will allow the AI assistant to virtually access everything the user has seen or done on their PC, offering a similar experience to having a photographic memory. This feature is designed to make laptop users feel more comfortable, as Copilot will be able to remember and suggest actions based on their previous activity.

The company emphasizes that this improvement will be integrated into its Windows operating system, used by millions of consumers, with the intention of facing the increasingly intense competition with other technology giants, such as Google and OpenAI. Microsoft promises to protect the privacy of its users, allowing them to filter what they do not want to be tracked.

This announcement comes after the recent presentations by Google and OpenAI in the field of AI. For example, Google has revamped its search engine to include AI-generated summaries and is developing Project Astra, an AI virtual assistant that can interact with what is shown through a smartphone camera. On the other hand, OpenAI, a Microsoft partner, has released a new version of ChatGPT with advanced human-like voice features, although it had to withdraw one of its voices that sounded “too similar” to Scarlett Johansson’s in the movie Her.

Although Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI, the latter also recently released a desktop version of ChatGPT for Apple Macs. The Apple Developer Conference, scheduled for June, will surely reveal its own AI innovations, as the company’s CEO, Tim Cook, has mentioned significant investments in this field.

The new computers with Windows and AI improvements will start being distributed from June 18th. These models will be manufactured by Microsoft partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung, in addition to Microsoft’s Surface line. However, the announced innovations will only be available for premium models, with a starting price of $999.
