Several months have passed since the release of ‘Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse.’ This has allowed us to finally uncover some of the intricacies hidden within the film, such as its discarded designs and ideas. Kris Anka, one of the conceptual artists involved in ‘Crossing the Multiverse,’ shared on his social media some sketches of Spider-Man designs that never made it to the screen.

The truth is, when undertaking a project of such magnitude, many ideas and concepts are discarded during development in favor of others. Such is the nature of the creative process, iterating over content until arriving at the design that best fits your needs. Here, we get a glimpse of some intriguing ideas, like the samurai-style Spider-Man.

Kris Anka boasts a resume that includes contributions to Marvel, DC Comics, Bungie, and Hasbro, among others. Apart from ‘Across the Multiverse,’ he has also worked as a character designer on ‘My Adventures with Superman’ and ‘TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.’ His personality-infused designs have contributed to making this “arachnid sequel” even more special.

If you were left wanting more after ‘Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse,’ you’ll still have to wait a bit. Sony’s film will be available on Netflix starting December 2023, although you can already pre-order it physically from retailers like Amazon or GAME (with a release date of September 27th).
