WhatsApp, the popular messaging app from Meta, has announced the launch of a new filter called “Favorites,” which makes it easier for users to search for their most important chats and groups. This new functionality also allows you to call your favorite contacts directly from the top of the calls tab.
With this filter, WhatsApp users can keep all their relevant chats grouped together for faster access. Additionally, the instant messaging app has added a Favorites section in the Calls tab, allowing users to quickly call their favorite contacts without having to search for them in the address book or check the recent call logs.
To add a contact or group to the favorites list, you must select the Favorites filter on the chats screen or press the “Add to favorites” option after selecting the contact or group on the calls tab. It is also possible to add a chat to favorites by long pressing on it and selecting “Add to favorites.” The management of favorite contacts and groups is done in Settings > Favorites > Add to favorites, and they can be reordered according to the user’s preferences.

WhatsApp began testing this feature on iOS and the web in February, and on Android in April, according to WABetaInfo. This update comes three months after the introduction of the “All,” “Unread,” and “Groups” chat filters.
The addition of the Favorites filter makes chat filters even more useful, as it provides a quicker way to chat or call your most important contacts. The rollout of the Favorites filter began last Tuesday and will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks.
