The Piglins, creatures native to the Nether, seem to be the main antagonists of the movie. In the game, these humanoid creatures attack if you don’t wear gold armor, and in the trailer, they are seen causing chaos in the Overworld.
4. Some well-known protagonists
The protagonists of the movie are Garrett “Trash Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers), and Dawn (Danielle Brooks). These characters accidentally transported to the Overworld seek to fulfill the archetypes of Minecraft players.
5. Steve’s Return
The most iconic character of Minecraft, Steve, also makes an appearance. Played by Jack Black. He seems to be a version of Steve who has lived in the Overworld for a long time… and things haven’t gone very well for him.
6. Elaboration of details and references
One scene shows Garrison using a crafting table, where we can see several iconic game items: diamond swords, helmets, end chests, and much more.
7. Extremely rare animals
The first animal we see is a pink sheep, a rare creature existing in the game. Like the rest of the world of Minecraft in the movie, the sheep has a more detailed and animated appearance, giving it more life than in its pixelated version in the game. Although that is not necessarily a good thing.
8. The Invasion of the Creatures from the Underworld
Throughout the trailer, it is suggested that the Nether creatures have found a way to invade the Overworld. Something that will undoubtedly sound exciting for fans of the game.
9. Creepers: Classic enemies return
The most terrifying enemies in the game, the Creepers, also make their appearance. In the trailer, we see one approaching Garrison. Terror is guaranteed.
10. The Appearance of the Nether
Finally, we see a brief image of the Nether, Minecraft’s hell, full of lava and dangers. This place is home to the Piglins, and seems to be the origin of many of the threats that the protagonists face.
