Nintendo’s latest financial report shows Switch 2 hardware sell-through fell 37.4% in the six months ended September 30, 2026. Hardware had a slower half, even as software sales rose and operating profit improved.
The report puts Switch 2 sales at 6.49 million units for the half, down from 10.36 million a year earlier. Since launching in June 2025, though, the system has still reached 26.35 million lifetime sales, ahead of the original Switch’s 19.67 million by month 15 and the PlayStation 5’s 19.3 million by month 16. Nintendo also kept its March 2027 target of 16.5 million units, which means it needs roughly 10.01 million more sales in the second half, likely with the holidays and late adopters carrying most of that load.
If you follow Nintendo closely, this update is still one to look at. The company says software sales climbed 18.8% to 24.49 million units, with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream leading at 8.81 million and Rhythm Heaven Groove adding 2.89 million. That was enough to help lift operating profit while hardware settles into a more normal pace.
The full report is up on Nintendo’s investor site. In it, Nintendo says September price increases pushed the US Switch 2 to $500, a $50 jump tied to market conditions and memory costs, while the original Switch added another 610,000 units to reach 157.20 million lifetime sales.
