A new saga of robots and science fiction is making its way to the big screen, and Henry Cavill will be its protagonist

As if we didn’t have enough with Transformers and Pacific Rim, a new movie that highlights mechas and giant robots is about to hit theaters. Voltron, the iconic animated series from the eighties, will make its way to the big screen in a live-action adaptation produced by Amazon MGM and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Red Notice, Skyscraper).

The adaptation also has an ally that practically guarantees its success: Henry Cavill. The actor known for his portrayals of Superman and Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher will lead this ambitious film alongside Daniel Quinn-Toye, an emerging talent who has impressed filmmakers with his work in London’s West End, where he performed alongside Tom Holland in Romeo and Juliet.

Mechas conquer the cinema

The original Voltron series, which debuted in the 80s, followed a team of five space pilots whose vehicles, when combined, formed a gigantic robot called Voltron. This live-action adaptation promises to capture the essence of that premise, although the specific plot details and Cavill’s exact role remain a mystery.
