Apple’s rumored Home Hub appears to be in the works, if several reports are accurate. Nothing’s official yet, but the device is being described as a smart display for the home, with Siri, HomeKit controls, calling, media playback, recipes, Notes, calendars, news, music, podcasts, lights, and camera feeds all in the mix.
The reports mostly line up on the hardware. Think a screen of about seven inches, with thin bezels and rounded corners, so smaller than an iPad mini. Apple is also said to be testing two versions: one that sits on a speaker-style base for a table or counter, and another that attaches to the wall with a magnetic mount. Siri may be getting some attention too, with more natural back-and-forth, tighter connections to Notes and Reminders, plus the ability to pull information from your devices and handle several smart-home tasks in one go.
There’s more. Some reports say a front camera could identify who’s in the room using facial data, or even “bodyprint” data, then surface the right calendar, news, or podcasts for that person. That’s handy on paper, though it also opens up privacy and GDPR questions. If you already use HomeKit around the house, this is one to keep an eye on. Apple still hasn’t confirmed any of it, even with reported J490 references in macOS 26.7 RC, talk of employees testing it at home, and release rumors that swing anywhere from next month to October 2026. All of that is tied to a wider push that reportedly includes the HomePod mini, Apple TV, iOS 27, and HomeKit, with Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub clearly in the crosshairs.
There’s nothing to download yet.
