Kreyg showed off a custom Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Twitch mod on September 2, 2026, and it does exactly the kind of thing chat loves: viewers can spend Twitch Bits to make protagonist Carl “CJ” Johnson’s phone ring live in-game, trigger his original phone-answer animation, and have a text-to-speech message play with subtitles on screen. The demo also includes viewer-triggered NPC spawns and cheat-code effects. People clearly got the appeal fast, because it’s already passed 1 million views.

Kreyg is also the person behind the Kreygasm emote, and he’s since pushed the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas mod further. Viewers can now spawn friendly or hostile NPCs and set off classic Grand Theft Auto effects, which turns a normal mission or a bit of free roam into instant chaos. If audience-driven streams are your thing, this feels like the sort of Grand Theft Auto tool you’ll want to get your hands on when it’s ready. Tools like Crowd Control have already shown there’s real demand for direct viewer participation, and Kreyg has said he wants to try similar ideas in Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City too.

You can’t download it yet. The mod is still a work in progress, built with plugin-sdk and a custom C# program that feeds live Twitch chat into Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Kreyg says it still isn’t plug-and-play enough to release publicly right now.

Players have already found a secret ending in The Blood of Dawnwalker, the open-world action RPG that launched September 3, 2026, and the wild part is how early you can reach it. Once the game opens up, it’s basically right there.

Head to Coward’s Path at night instead of pushing forward with Coen’s story, and you can use his vampiric Planeshift and Shadowstep abilities to get across a broken bridge and leave Vale Sangora. Do that, and you trigger “A Hero They Deserve,” better known among players as the Coward’s Ending, then watch the credits roll without beating a single boss. Try the same route during the day, and it won’t work. That’s what makes this ending stand out: there’s no late-game grind, no punishing combat check, no post-credits requirement. You just need to understand how the game’s systems fit together.

You play as Coen, a human-vampire hybrid trying to save his family in a bleak 14th-century European world, and the game is built around choices that branch in sharp directions. There’s a 30-day clock hanging over everything, a fail-state ending called “Time Runs Out,” and quests that change depending on whether it’s day or night. Daytime tends to open up less violent paths. Night is when the powers you need for this route come online. If you’re into RPGs that actually let you abandon the main plot and see what happens, this is an easy one to recommend. Players are already hunting down all seven endings, including “The Turncoat,” “The Folk Hero,” “The Patricide,” “The Knyazmaker,” and the secret “Together Forever.”

The Blood of Dawnwalker comes from Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco, and it’s available on Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S following its September 3, 2026 release.

Italian YouTuber MikeShowSha says Grand Theft Auto 6 might change how sprinting works. According to him, Rockstar Games is replacing the Grand Theft Auto series’ 25-year-old tap-to-sprint setup with a click of the left stick, or L3, to run. He says he heard that during a closed-door hands-on preview. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any of it, though, so for now it belongs in the rumor pile.

Still, it’s pretty obvious why people are already split. For some fans, tap-to-sprint is part of Grand Theft Auto’s identity. It adds a certain physical tension to chases, escapes, and fights. Others look at it from the practical side and think an L3 sprint just makes more sense in 2026: less strain on your thumb, better camera control, and a button layout that lines up with most modern action games.

If you grew up with the older Grand Theft Auto games, this is the kind of change you’ll probably want to watch closely. There’s the worry that Rockstar could be sanding off one of the series’ familiar quirks. There’s also the less romantic concern: more L3 wear, more chances for stick drift, and still no word on whether there’ll be a classic control option. Then again, if Grand Theft Auto 6 feels great to play, a lot of this debate may fade fast. MikeShowSha also says the handbrake could move to A or X, which would open space for a Red Dead Redemption 2-style free-fire driving system. Until Rockstar says something through its official channels, and until we get the full current-gen console release details, none of these control changes should be treated as final.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered now has a release date: September 29, 2026. CD Projekt Red says this new version will support save transfers, give current owners a free upgrade, and bring major gameplay changes along with the visual refresh.

Your original The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt save files and unlocked achievements will carry over, so you won’t have to start over unless you want to. There is one catch: your skill points will be reset, because CD Projekt Red has overhauled the skill tree.

And this isn’t being framed as a graphics update with a fresh coat of paint. CD Projekt Red says the remaster also reworks combat and movement, redesigns the skill system, and adds cross-platform mod support. If you already own the game on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S, you’ll get the remaster for free, with Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine included at no extra cost.

If you’ve already put hundreds of hours into Geralt, this looks like an easy one to grab, even if those carried-over achievements mean you probably shouldn’t expect a separate list to unlock.

CD Projekt Red says The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Battle.net. If you want to move your progress between versions or platforms, you’ll need a GOG account to use CD Projekt Red’s existing cross-progression system.

Dungeon Runners Reborn, an unofficial return of NCsoft’s action MMORPG Dungeon Runners, went into public alpha today. That puts the long-dead PC MMO back online for the first time in 17 years. Expect bugs, crashes, half-finished systems, and features that just aren’t there yet. Even so, the Dungeon Runners Reborn team says it reverse-engineered the original server backend so it could run with the original client, which makes this feel a lot more like a restoration than a remake.

Dungeon Runners first launched in May 2007. It mixed free-to-play, Diablo-style loot combat with a fantasy setting that didn’t take itself too seriously. NCsoft pulled the plug on January 1, 2010 because the game wasn’t profitable, reportedly after the team had been reduced to just three people. This revived version is supposed to remain free, with no monetization attached. The usual legal gray area around unofficial MMO revivals still applies, of course, but the Dungeon Runners Reborn developers say they’re in talks with NCsoft, the same company that recently licensed City of Heroes: Homecoming. So far, the response has been encouraging, including public praise from at least one developer who worked on the original Dungeon Runners.

If you used to play, or if MMO preservation matters to you, this early alpha is probably worth downloading rough edges and all. You can jump into the public alpha now through the Dungeon Runners Reborn project and play Dungeon Runners on PC again.

Katherine Rundell’s all-ages fantasy series Impossible Creatures gets a third book on September 1, 2026, when The Neverfear arrives. The project was originally planned as a trilogy, but it has since expanded into a five-book series after the first two books reportedly sold more than one million copies across 37 territories.

For readers, that means a fresh Christopher and Mal adventure set in Rundell’s hidden archipelago of mythical creatures.

If you’re into all-ages fantasy, this is one to pick up. Rundell’s series is written for readers 10 and up, but it has also found a sizable adult audience. It won Waterstones Book of the Year in 2023, and it’s drawn praise for its world-building, quick pace, and likeable leads, even if some critics think parts of it feel familiar or a bit too didactic.

The buzz isn’t limited to the books, either. Rundell’s wider catalogue has now reportedly passed four million copies sold worldwide, and Disney acquired the film rights in October 2025 in what was reported as a seven-figure multi-film deal. Rundell is writing the first two screenplays and will also help guide the franchise creatively.

Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games’ next open-world crime game, is apparently being built to make you feel a little less untouchable. That comes from a new report citing comments attributed to Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson. If those comments hold up, the idea is a world where you aren’t always the most dangerous person in the room.

What seems to be changing, according to the report, is a more grounded sandbox that takes cues from Red Dead Redemption 2. NPCs reportedly have more of a mind of their own: they can turn violent, follow routines, react in ways you won’t always see coming, take cover, and fight back. If that’s how it plays, firefights should leave you feeling more exposed, public spaces less under your control, and Vice City itself a lot more willing to push back.

The report also says Rockstar is adding non-lethal suppressive fire, stronger reactions when you openly carry a weapon, and the possibility that nearby NPCs will call the police. There’s also a Criminal Profile system tied to Jason and Lucia, along with a witness-based wanted system, more detailed vehicle damage, deeper carjacking interactions, and faster switching between the two leads.

If you want Grand Theft Auto 6 to offer more real freedom instead of straight arcade-style excess, this is the kind of thing worth keeping an eye on. Still, it’s hard to say how far any of these systems really go once you’re playing, or whether they’ll shape the online mode too, not just single-player.

CD Projekt Red used Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026 to unveil two big updates for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Songs of the Past, a new expansion set for 2027, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, a free remaster due out on September 29, 2026.

Songs of the Past brings back a storyline the studio had previously put aside. It sends Geralt to Letten, Dandelion’s homeland, and CD Projekt Red is pitching it as a full-scale open-world adventure closer to Blood and Wine than a smaller side story, with a stronger focus on Dandelion’s family and his past.

The remaster bundles in visual improvements, better combat, a reworked skill tree, fresh animations, and HalkHogan’s HD Reworked Project. At the same time, Fool’s Theory is helping develop Songs of the Past, while CD Projekt Red keeps attention on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the RPG that’s sold 65 million copies, ahead of a 2028 Witcher 4 that a lot of players assume will put Ciri front and center.

If you’re still playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the free remaster looks like an easy pickup. Players have responded well to that part of the announcement, even if the 2027 timing for Songs of the Past seems to have pushed CD Projekt Red’s stock slightly lower.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will be free on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for anyone who already owns the game. Both releases are also headed to Battle.net, where buying Songs of the Past will get you a Geralt-themed Diablo 4 skin.

Prime Video has set September 16, 2026 for Neagley. That puts Frances Neagley front and center on the exact day Reacher season 4 wraps. The platform says all eight episodes will arrive at once, with Maria Sten returning in the lead and Alan Ritchson appearing as Jack Reacher, which makes Neagley feel less like some detached side project and more like a straight pass from the main series.

The story heads to Chicago. There, Frances Neagley looks into the suspicious death of a friend from her past and ends up pulling on a thread that leads to something much bigger, based on Prime Video’s official synopsis. One other difference matters here: unlike Reacher, Neagley isn’t drawn from a Lee Child novel. It’s an original story made for TV. Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton created the series, and it comes from Amazon MGM Studios with Skydance Television producing.

If you keep up with Reacher, this spin-off looks like one to watch. Frances Neagley has been one of the franchise’s sharpest and hardest-to-read characters for a long time, and that world isn’t staying small, either. Zero Margin, a Neagley novel from Lee Child and Yasmin Angoe, is also on the way and is currently slated for March 2027.

So if you want in, Neagley hits Prime Video on September 16, 2026.

Mortal Shell 2 came out on August 20, 2026, and players have already started zeroing in on a few early weapon favorites. Combat is faster this time, there’s no stamina bar to worry about, and fights are built around breaking posture and cashing in with critical strikes. With a bigger, more connected world throwing more kinds of encounters at you, your weapon matters about as much as your Shell.

So far, Axatana and Axe & Dagger look like the safest early picks. They bring the speed, reach, and pressure this combat system tends to reward.

The other melee options in the mix are The Iconoclast, Veteran’s Battle Axe, Great Martyr’s Blade, Obsidian Hammer, Black Needle, and the Clockwork Scythe. Sidearms include the Naylshotte, Forgotten Crossbow, Troubadour’s Lute, Salvaged Trebuchaxe, Ballistazooka, Triarch Repeater, Cursed Child, and Caged Hystrix. Those give you ways to control space, chip down targets before they get close, and handle the more awkward fights that tend to happen while you’re exploring.

Weapon feel matters a lot here. If you want a reliable early setup, Axatana or Axe & Dagger are both worth grabbing.

Cold Symmetry’s patch notes from August 21, 2026 also say the studio increased gold drops, reduced smelting costs, and tweaked some weapon and seal functions, which should make it easier to experiment.

You can get Mortal Shell 2 now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. It launched on August 20, 2026 and, according to Cold Symmetry, sold more than 500,000 copies in its first weekend.
