Lionsgate Films has become one of the most important production companies in Hollywood today. It is one of the few that has managed to adapt perfectly to the 21st century, and its films include La La Land and Daggers in the Back. But it is its franchises that are working best, as is clearly the case with John Wick, Twilight and The Hunger Games.
Now, they want to revitalise another new franchise that worked in its day as one of the best horror films in history and paralysed the world in 1999: The Blair Witch Project. With three films under its belt, the saga has become an icon of contemporary horror, so Lionsgate wants to continue exploiting it.

The Blair Witch is back
A new Blair Witch Project film has been announced, and the director will be Oliver Park, director of the interesting The Offering (2022). Although the 2016 film didn’t turn out as expected, Production Weekly reports that shooting will take place between late summer and autumn, and will aim to update the saga for the new times.
Although the original film was a much bigger hit than the later ones, creators Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez have not been too involved in the sequels, so it has become a somewhat cursed saga. However, Lionsgate doesn’t want to let it go and believes that with this new film they can achieve the success they have had with other sagas, so it remains to be seen if they can.
