Brotherwise Games has revealed Heroes of the Lost Desolation, a new official campaign for the Cosmere Roleplaying Game that takes players back to Roshar, the setting of Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive, sometime in the first half of 2027. The campaign comes from the Dragonsteel Nexus 2025 live event and has been adapted for home tables, rather than being some newly announced Stormlight Archive book.
So if you saw the name and wondered whether Sanderson had quietly lined up another Roshar novel, that’s not what this is. Heroes of the Lost Desolation is a tabletop campaign for small groups, published by Brotherwise Games, built from the Dragonsteel Nexus 2025 live event. Brotherwise says that event brought in roughly 400 players, and this version has been reworked so people can run it at home or across a regular game night schedule.
The setting is one of Roshar’s ancient Desolations. That puts it far earlier in the timeline than the main novels, which gives players a very different look at the world’s mythology, its wars, and those repeating cycles of devastation.
Brotherwise is widening the line in other directions too. Tidebreakers, which follows Stonewalkers, is currently slated for October 2027, according to the company. A Mistborn campaign setting is also in development. At the same time, Brandon Sanderson keeps pushing the Cosmere outside the novels, with a Ghostbloods book, a Mistborn movie screenplay, and a Stormlight Archive series in the works for Apple TV+.
If you’ve been wanting more Roshar while waiting for the first book in the back five of The Stormlight Archive, and Sanderson has indicated that may not show up until around 2031, this looks like an easy one to keep an eye on.
Brotherwise Games plans to release it for the Cosmere Roleplaying Game in the first half of 2027.
