Although for all of Spain, C Tangana is a rap musician who has skillfully played with trends to make a name for himself, the truth is that he is an artist who has been proving himself much more intelligent than he seemed for a few years now. Since he released El Madrileño, a 2021 album that combined Spanish music and aesthetics with his own productions, he has not stopped innovating with each new work he releases. Now, he has decided to take a break from music to dedicate himself to film directing.

And, although expectations were high due to the repeated surprises he has given us over the years, the truth is that no one really knew what this work was going to be about. Now, having seen it, we can affirm that it is one of the most moving documentaries that have been seen in Spain in recent years.
Gypsy Life, Better Life
The first scene of the documentary is a justification. In a tavern, Antón explains why he decided to make this documentary: he met a young but highly talented musician, Yerai Cortés, whose story was so fascinating that it needed to be told. He then proceeds to tell it through a narrative that beautifully and humanly blends love, grief, and hope.
Throughout the documentary, Álvarez guides us on a journey to learn the story of a gypsy who, despite being raised as such in a neighborhood where flamenco is the only possible religion, has managed to leave and perfectly coexist between two worlds. This man, Yerai Cortés, is also someone with immense talent and a remarkable life behind him. Although it may seem like a not-so-unique story, the truth is that it is told in such a way that it is impossible not to feel the emotion.

With the flamenco guitar of Yerai Cortés, C Tangana (or Antón Álvarez, I insist) demonstrates that he succeeds the most when he carries out his work with respect and admiration for those around him.
