Colin Farrell has recently revealed that his role in the highly anticipated The Batman 2 will not be significant, although he is dissatisfied with his participation. In statements to TheWrap, Farrell commented: “I don’t have many scenes, but I will be there for as long as necessary”. The actor, who plays Oz Cobblepot in the spin-off series The Penguin, highlighted Matt Reeves’ dedication in creating a special script that has been in development for several years.
It has become cold as a penguin
The script for The Batman 2 was delivered to DC and Warner Bros. a couple of months ago, and filming is expected to begin in 2026. The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 1, 2027, and the audience is eagerly anticipating it. This sequel will take place after the events of The Penguin, where Farrell’s character tries to regain control of Gotham after the havoc caused by Riddler in the first installment.
In addition to Farrell, it is expected that Cristin Milioti will reprise her role as Sofia Falcone and that Jeffrey Wright will return as Commissioner Gordon. Milioti has mentioned in interviews her desire to return to the role, although she has not officially confirmed her participation. For his part, Wright has stated that he has not yet had the opportunity to read the script, which leaves the door open to speculation about his role in the sequel.
With a meticulous approach from Reeves and a cast that has captivated the audience, The Batman 2 promises to be an exciting chapter in the Gotham universe. Fans will have to wait until 2027 to see how the intrigues and the struggle for control of the city unfold.
