2023 was an unprecedented year for Marvel Studios, and we say it in a bad way. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was a critical disaster, Secret Invasion didn’t resonate with the audience, and The Marvels became the least successful movie of the company. However, 2024 seems to have improved this trend somewhat, and the studio may finally recover.
Where Marvel has had a better year is not in the cinema, where it will only release Deadpool and Wolverine, which is expected to be a success, but in the series. In 2024, the studio has released Echo and X-Men 97′. The second of these series is making it very clear that it is an incredible success, but the first one has also managed to stand out on the VOD platform to everyone’s surprise.
A breath of fresh air for Marvel
As reported by Variety, the most-watched series of the year on Disney Plus has been Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but Echo and X-Men 97′ are close behind. While the former has achieved 23.3% of the total streaming service audience, Echo has reached 11.9% and X-Men 97′ 6.8%.
Thanks to these numbers, it is clear that the Marvel crisis is not as reinforced as we thought. Perhaps, after all, it has only been a setback, and after the break this year they can come back strong with the new series and movies expected for the following years.

For now, however, in 2024 we will also see another Marvel series on Disney Plus: Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. Although they keep changing the title of the series every now and then and it is no longer clear what it is, it is clear that it will be starring Agatha Harkness, who already stood out in Wandavision as a formidable witch.
