Stephen King on Twitter is a whole catalog of interesting recommendations. The director takes advantage of his most common social network to talk about movies or series that he has liked, and there have already been gems like Money Heist —before it became super famous— or The Three-Body Problem.
Now he has taken advantage of his comfort zone to recommend a small Spanish horror production that is making waves around the world, receiving all kinds of positive reviews: The Coffee Table. Directed by Caye Casas and starring Josep Riera, David Pareja, Estefanía de los Santos, and Claudia Riera, the film has been such a success that the master of horror has bowed down to it.
An international gem
“There is a Spanish movie called The Coffee Table on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ (only in the US). I dare say that never, not even once in your entire life, have you seen such a dark movie. It’s horrible and also terribly funny. Think of the darkest dream of the Coen brothers”.
The director Caye Casas, who previously only worked as a director in the surprising “Killing God” and “Asylum: Twisted Horror and Fantasy Tales”, has responded to the writer unable to believe what he is achieving. Interestingly, in Spain the film was not getting distribution until it was confirmed by Filmin, a platform that will release it on May 17th. But what is “The Coffee Table” about exactly?

María (Estefanía de los Santos) and Jesús (David Pareja) have just become parents, but their relationship is not going through the best moment. They are in crisis and have several problems. What they don’t imagine even in their worst nightmares is that buying a small table for the dining room will become the worst decision of their lives.
