Although Ubisoft has already shown us a trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the audience wants more. The idea of an Assassin’s Creed set in feudal Japan is something that fans have been asking for decades, and the need to know more details is there. Because even if the game will be released this year, that doesn’t take away our eagerness. And Ubisoft knows it well.
The developers of this new game have been dropping different puzzles on social media. Starting with images on Twitter, and continuing with content creators who have received special boxes with clues yet to be revealed, they have gone as far as interacting with players on Discord, playing the game’s characters. This has brought to light numerous clues that we still didn’t know about the game.
According to the first clues, the game will take place in the Kansai region. Since both the cities of Kyoto and Osaka are there, and considering that Kyoto is the former capital of Japan, it seems that this is the most likely city to be the central hub of the game. Some other clues that fans have been revealing are also confirming, revealing more details about the game.
The latest thing they have managed to reveal about the game are several concept art images. Showing different places in Kyoto, especially Takeda Castle, everything points to us experiencing a story of political intrigues. This is logical considering that the game takes place during the Sengoku period, a particularly turbulent moment in Japan’s history, because different clans, or daimyos, were seeking to unify the country under their rule. All while the emperor was little more than a straw figure.
While fans are expected to continue discovering things, we will have to wait a little longer to enjoy this game. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on November 12th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Mac OS. Though it is expected to appear at one of the upcoming noE3 conferences.
