Capcom has released Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, a new IP for the company. The game has followed the growing trend of not having a physical edition and for now, it will only be available for digital purchase. This has raised concerns in the community, but Capcom has assured that it will not abandon physical releases.
As reported by GameSpot, during a Capcom shareholders meeting, the company stated that “since a significant number of users demand physical games, we currently do not expect to eliminate physical products.”
The truth is that considering the numbers handled by Capcom, it is not surprising their bet on digital. In 2020, 80% of the company’s sales were digital. In 2023, this number managed to grow to 90.1%. Now, in 2024, Capcom expects to reach 93%.
