Meta AI was first launched in September 2023. At that time, it was powered by Llama 2, Meta’s proprietary artificial intelligence system. Just a year later, Meta AI comes with a new version of Llama and brings along a bunch of innovations.
For now, the number of countries where it is available has been expanded. Now, the assistant can be used in 22 countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Cameroon. Additionally, we also have new languages such as Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Italian, and Portuguese.
Users in the United States will be able to enjoy a new feature, Imagine Me. This will allow us to retouch our photographs and change what happens in them. Meta AI will be able to “imagine” you in any type of situation just by asking for it. This feature will also be useful for manipulating images, such as removing or changing the content of something specific.
Soon, users will also be able to create images with Meta AI directly in their posts, comments, stories, or messages on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. All of this is possible thanks to Llama 3.1 405B, their new open-source AI model, accessible both on WhatsApp and Meta AI. Solving math problems, programming… this model will be able to perform all kinds of tasks, as you will be able to see for yourself.
In addition, Meta has committed to making regular updates to its AI (specifically, every two weeks). The goal is to constantly add new features and, in the process, increase support for more languages.
What is Llama?
The name Llama stands for Large Language Model Meta AI. It is a generative artificial intelligence model very similar to GPT, for example. Although it is not as advanced as GPT, it also consumes much fewer resources than it, besides being more versatile.
