Now, after six heart-stopping episodes, the series has come to an end. But what has happened in this finale, and why has it been so impactful for Marvel fans? Undoubtedly, the conclusion of the second season of Loki will have far-reaching consequences, much like the first season did. But we are not even prepared for what is to come.

An epic ending that leads us towards the Secret Wars

In the previous episode of Loki, the God of Mischief managed to control the temporal slide, through which he traveled to the past within the TVA moments before the Temporal Prism exploded, forever altering the fate of the universe. But there was still something to be done: fixing the Prism and putting everything back in its place.

To accomplish this mission, in the sixth episode, Loki repeatedly travels back in time, avoiding any errors in the timeline that could cause a new tear in the Prism. Loki goes to such lengths on this mission that he even spends centuries learning about science and engineering to accumulate more knowledge than anyone else, making himself the most qualified for the job.

However, despite Loki’s titanic efforts, nothing works to fix the Temporal Prism. At that moment, Victor Timely explains that it is a “scale problem,” as timelines have infinite branches and cannot be expanded indefinitely. But, thanks to this explanation, Loki manages to find the solution: preventing this branching from starting. In other words, putting an end to the Multiverse.

In this way, Loki must travel back to the moment when Sylvie killed He Who Remains and started all the chaos… and put an end to her. However, Loki has another idea; to sacrifice himself in her place. But when he does so by exposing himself to temporal radiation, he becomes a kind of deity that can control time. Thus, Loki sacrifices himself but doesn’t prevent what will happen soon: a multiversal war that we will see very soon. Specifically, in the upcoming Secret Wars.
