Google just released a standalone Google Finance app for Android, and it’s available now. The app covers the basics most people want on a phone: watchlists, real-time market data, live financial news, and Key Moments, a feature that explains in plain English why a stock moved during the day.
The release comes with a broader Google Finance refresh aimed at regular users. Google also says the redesigned Google Finance website is now out of beta and available in more than 100 countries.
For now, the app feels more like a lighter companion to the web version than a true replacement. It’s built for quick checks when you’re away from your desk, not the full tool set.
Google says portfolio tracking, deeper stock analysis, more advanced charts, and live earnings calls are on the way over the next few months, and an iPhone version is planned for later this year. If you want quick answers without digging through dense market commentary, this is an easy app to grab. If you need more than a fast market snapshot, you’ll still want the Google Finance website.
Google is also making an obvious push into the retail investing market, which is expected to grow from $116.66 billion in 2026 to $281.24 billion by 2035. Trading apps had already reached 145 million users and generated $24.7 billion in revenue in 2024, and the Android app is ready to download now.
