Mazda has officially launched the EZ-60, its first electric SUV developed in collaboration with Changan Auto, which is now arriving at dealerships across China after achieving an impressive 20,000 pre-orders within just over two weeks.
This launch marks an important milestone for Mazda as it steps into the competitive electric vehicle market with a model that aims to attract Chinese consumers.
The EZ-60 boasts a range of cutting-edge technology, including a remarkable 100-inch naked-eye 3D head-up display and advanced voice recognition systems.
Mazda Set to Rebrand EZ-60 as CX-6e for Global Markets
With a CLTC range of up to 600 kilometers (approximately 372 miles) thanks to its CATL lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the EZ-60 is designed for efficiency, making it well-suited to urban environments. Additionally, it features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, enabling a total combined driving range exceeding 1,300 kilometers (about 808 miles).
Measuring around the same size as a Tesla Model Y, the EZ-60 is engineered specifically with Chinese buyers in mind, incorporating unique design elements and technologies to appeal to local preferences.
To incentivize potential customers, Mazda has introduced an innovative deposit program where buyers can start with an initial deposit of 10 yuan, increasing their investment daily through an “expansion code.”
Test drives for the EZ-60 are set to commence in July, with customer deliveries anticipated to start in August. Following its success in China, Mazda plans to roll out the SUV globally next year, rebranding it as the CX-6e for international markets, including Europe.
The European version will feature battery options of 68.8 kWh and 80 kWh, offering WLTP ranges of 300 miles and 343 miles, respectively.
As Mazda capitalizes on the growing electric vehicle segment, the EZ-60 serves as a critical entry point, emphasizing their commitment to innovation in the automotive landscape.
