Yesterday, the long-awaited update for Fallout 4 arrived on PS5, one of the Bethesda games that are experiencing a second youth after the great success that Fallout, the series set in the saga’s universe, is experiencing. After several years, players were expecting a native version for PS5 that could be played, among other things, at 60 fps. And so it has been… although the final result has not been well received by users.
But that wouldn’t be the only problem for fans, as access to the update itself, free for all Fallout 4 owners (whether physical or digital), is proving to be a real headache for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
And the problem is that both PS Plus Essential subscribers who acquired Fallout 4 for free and added it to their library, as well as PS Plus Extra subscribers, who have access to a catalog with dozens of games including Bethesda’s title, were unpleasantly surprised yesterday when they discovered that, to download the PS5 version of the game, they had to pay $20 (or the equivalent price in other currencies).
This would be a bug, and Bethesda says they are working on it: “We have seen some confusion regarding the free next-gen update of Fallout 4 for PlayStation Plus Extra members. The next-gen update of Fallout 4 will be available for PlayStation Plus Extra members through the PlayStation game catalog.”
