The Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe has been in a slump for a while, but in 2025 it promises to come back strong, and the stakes are high with titles like Captain America 4: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Blade, and The Fantastic Four. Regarding the latter, scheduled for May 2, 2025, we already know the complete cast and we’ve seen some promotional images. But there are still many details to confirm, and now we know some more.
In The Official Marvel Podcast, Kevin Feige talked about the movie and clarified some details about the film’s production that were already becoming known to the public. Among other details, we now know in what time period and universe this new adaptation of The Fantastic Four will be set.

The New York of the 60s… but not the one we know
Feige explained: “There was an artwork we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air, forming the shape of a ‘4’, and there was an urban landscape in the corner of that image. Many smart people noticed that this landscape didn’t exactly resemble the New York we know, or the New York that existed in the 60s in our world. I will say that these are smart observations.”
With these words, Kevin Feige makes two things clear. First, that the movie will be set in the 60s. And second, that it’s not the New York we all know; that is, it will be set in another universe. Adding to our understanding, actor Joseph Quinn also provided some details in an interview for Entertainment Weekly:
“We want to do it right with the Fantastic Four story. There are aspects that are very different from other Marvel movies. It was very appealing to me. And again, going back to who is involved, Matt [Shakman], of course, the director, I think he is brilliant, and the cast, and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I’m delighted to have this opportunity. Superhero movies are movies about people. And if we are interested in people and characters and danger and spectacle, then that’s why people go to the movies to watch films.”
