Very few directors are as passionate about action as John Woo. The Hong Kong filmmaker has delighted us with all kinds of shootouts, mafias, and chases since the 1980s. And now he is about to return with a work that, curiously, he already carried out in 1989.
That’s right, John Woo is preparing a remake of The Killer, the film that brought him to fame in the late eighties. The remake, however, comes from a much more experienced filmmaker and even more equipped for action. And its trailer is, basically, spectacular.
John Woo decides to adapt himself
This new version of The Killer will arrive on Peacock in the United States in a few weeks and features Nathalie Emmanuel (Megalopolis, Fast & Furious X, Arthur) and Omar Sy (Jurassic World: Dominion, Lupin) as the main protagonists. The film follows Zee, a well-known hitwoman in the underworld with the nickname “Queen of the Dead.” During a mission, she refuses to take the life of a blind young woman, which sets off a spiral of increasingly violent crimes.
