Living in the Wasteland is easier to bear with the right music: these are the best songs from the Fallout saga

The world of Fallout, the saga that recently gave birth to a magnificent series for Amazon Prime Video, can be quite horrifying in many ways. The situation is as follows: you have just come out of a Vault-Tec shelter (or a very nice doctor’s house) and you find yourself in a post-apocalyptic world where radiation is everywhere, there are mutant insects, guys in armor shoot at you before speaking, and, in short, every step you take could be your last. Pleasant, isn’t it?

While it may seem like a real nightmare (and it is a bit), your adventures in the Wasteland can be much more enjoyable with the right music. One of the most outstanding features of the Fallout series is precisely its incredible soundtrack, composed mostly of great hits from the last century, which you can listen to on your Pip-Boy radio or in different locations in the games. Do you want to listen to some in your free time? These are the best songs from the Fallout series (for me, of course).

Take Me Home, Country Roads – Spank

When we first saw the trailer for Fallout 76, the latest installment of the saga, we were completely enamored by Spank‘s version of “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, originally composed by John Denver. Yes, it wasn’t the original song, but this magnificent cover, created for the occasion, left all of us fans eager to try Fallout 76 and to “bring life back” to the Wasteland in the lands of West Virginia.

While the final outcome of Fallout 76 was an apocalypse in itself (the game was plagued with bugs, something that they have slowly been fixing), fans who enjoyed and currently enjoy this Bethesda game loved creating their settlements and defending them from terrifying creatures while listening to this magnificent song, which extols the virtues of West Virginia. An ideal song to play in the background while driving in real life.

I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire – The Ink Spots

Possibly the most iconic song of the Fallout saga. “I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire” captivated fans of the saga since we heard it in the first trailer of Fallout 3, where a paladin of the Brotherhood of Steel observes the ruins of Washington DC and then looks at us.

This magnificent theme is the music that many have in their minds when they recall the Fallout soundtrack, and it could even be considered as the unofficial main theme of the saga (with the permission of Inon Zur‘s “Main Theme”). If you’re visiting real-life DC, listen to this theme with your headphones and feel like a vault dweller desperately searching for their father, who one day went out for cigarettes and never returned (and happens to be none other than Liam Neeson himself, no less).

Ain’t That A Kick In the Head – Dean Martin

My favorite song from the Fallout saga, by far. “Ain’t That A Kick In the Head,” the song that begins the teaser trailer for Fallout: New Vegas, is a direct allusion to what happens to our beloved protagonist at the start of the game, where a “pleasant fellow” shoots us in the head (surviving in a completely miraculous manner, it must be said).

This magnificent theme plunges us directly into the atmosphere of Fallout: New Vegas thanks to the voice of the immortal Dean Martin, who, like his Rat Pack companions (such as Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.), brought the city of Las Vegas to life with his music. The best part is that, while this song is my favorite, the rest of the songs selected by Obsidian for this installment of the Fallout saga are also a true delight for the ears.
