A possible return of the original God of War trilogy is approaching, with a special announcement expected in March, coinciding with the anniversary of the series. The evolution of the character Kratos has been remarkable over the years, transitioning from a deranged warrior to a more reflective and complex figure, a change that has been a central theme in the recent DLC of God of War Ragnarok.
Everything points to a new original game
Rumors about remastering the first three games have circulated over the past year, generating expectations among fans. Some insiders, like Jeff Grubb, suggest that although these speculations may have come early, they could materialize in the announcement in March. No remasters were announced during the last PlayStation State of Play, which has led many to speculate that Sony might be reserving them for a more significant release.
The reception of these rumors among fans has been mixed. Across various social platforms, reactions can be seen that reflect both enthusiasm and skepticism. Imagine all the speculation about the Greek remasters and it turns out to be a surprise from 2018, commented one user, while others expressed doubts about the need to remaster every PS4 game. However, there are those who are calling for a collection that brings together all the original titles released between 2005 and 2013, similar to the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection.
As the date approaches, expectations rise. If there is an appropriate time to reveal these remasterizations, it is surely during the franchise’s anniversary in March. Fans hope that, amidst the nostalgia, Sony will manage to positively surprise with this announcement.
