Yes, now—goodbye PS4, goodbye

Almost four years have passed since the arrival of PS5 and, although it still has an audience of 49 million people, it is time for Sony to finally abandon PS4 once and for all. In fact, LEGO Horizon Adventures will be the last game they release for their already outdated console, putting an end to it 11 years after its birth. Oh, cruel fate. O tempora! O moris!

Funeral for a Play

To be honest, it was expected: since God of War Ragnarok there hasn’t been a high-level game for the console, and AAA games have remained as exclusives for the next-gen. It makes sense, of course. The PS4 version of Lost Soul has been canceled and this confirms the complete transition to the fifth generation. Does this mean that we won’t see new games anymore and you have to upgrade no matter what? It depends.

Yes, Sony already believes that it’s time for you to buy a PS5, but the truth is that third parties will still milk the cow until it stops being profitable, so you can expect new games in the style of FIFA (or whatever it’s called now, EA FC Sports), NBA 2K or Call of Duty, which never fail to deliver annually and are easy to port.

Frankly, and although it may hurt PS4 owners… It was about time if they wanted to grow their customer base, which had been a bit stagnant. And it’s normal: along the way we had the Covid era and the subsequent recovery. But it’s time to evolve, even if it means incurring losses at first. We have thousands of incredible games to remember on a console that will be remembered. PS4 is dead. Long live PS4!

Kratos has become soft, says the creator of ‘God of War’

I don’t want to see these characters growing. I don’t like at all the direction ‘God of War’ is going.

Let’s be honest: the first three games of the ‘God of War’ saga were a hack and slash with not much else to tell. Kratos was a tormented character who, for one reason or another, had to kill every monster or god he encountered. It was fun, didn’t require much thought, and managed to create an imposing figure who was, in essence, a killing machine. But in the reboot of the saga, which almost everyone has loved for Kratos’ natural evolution, there is someone who has felt left behind.

Having a bad time

It is none other than David Jaffe, the creator of the original trilogy, who has stated in a YouTube video that he cannot stand the two new games in the franchise. “I don’t want to see these characters growing up. I don’t like at all the direction that ‘God of War’ is going.” At least he says he liked the first one, but it is ‘Ragnarok’ that has caused him absolute rejection, not because of the gameplay, but because of what it tells.

“Someone should tell these people not to do it from time to time. And tell them ‘We love that you are artistic, we love that you are taking things from your personal life…’ but someone needs to stand up and say, ‘You need to do all that within the fence we have built and if you walk outside of it, the electric collar will hurt you’. Or in other words: like until now, but resembling their ‘God of War’.

Jaffe has not directed a game in the franchise since 2007, but that hasn’t stopped him from giving his opinion on it even though he couldn’t give advice on these new titles because he was immersed, at the time, in the development of ‘Drawn to death’, for PS4, which never quite worked out (and you may have never heard of it).

Will we see a tougher and less sentimental Kratos in the future? Will we return to the Aegean landscapes to take down the gods whenever it may be? For now, it seems that Sony is strongly betting on the Ghost of Sparta, so it wouldn’t be surprising if we soon learn more about the sixth game in the main saga. Until then, we will have to settle for its free DLC. And no sentimentality.

Rumors of a ‘God of War’ series adaptation

There are some exciting rumors about God of War. According to the online news outlet, Deadline, who first brought up the rumor, Amazon Studios and Sony’s Playstation Productions unit are working on a new God of War release.

This latest rumored release is not another game in the Sony franchise but rather a live-action series adaptation of the popular game. Deadline also reports that Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are involved in this production. This team is better known for their work on ‘The Expanse’ and ‘Children of Men.’ Unfortunately, this was the only information that Deadline had, and both Sony and Amazon declined to comment on the truth of this rumor.

God of War is one of Sony’s longest-standing franchises, with the last installment released in 2018 and a new release scheduled for some time this year. God of War remains one of the top game franchises and is available across multiple platforms, including PC, Playstation, and Xbox.

If this rumor is true, it will make God of War the fourth game getting a screen adaptation from Sony’s recently established Playstation Productions unit. At the moment, this new division has three productions underway. This production unit is also not working alone. For the most notable project, Playstation Productions is working closely with HBO. This project is a television series adaptation of Naughty Dog’s ‘The Last of Us’ game that will star Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and Nick Offerman. Another project currently underway is a ‘Ghosts of Tsushima’ movie and a Twisted Metal series.

While we cannot confirm that the rumors about a God of War series adaptation are true, as fans of the franchise, we can only hope that it is. Also, if the rumors that Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are involved in the project are true, it could be a great television series. We look forward to seeing if there’s any truth in the rumor. If you haven’t grabbed the game yet, here are five things you should know about God of War.

New God of War PC mod restores Kratos’ former glory

Since 2018, God of War fans have been getting used to the ‘new and improved’ Kratos. 2018’s release of the massively popular role-playing game chose to give the protagonist a makeover of sorts with a colossal beard and a body plagued by the visual effects of aging. In a new PC mod by Speclizer, God of War die-hards can see Kratos restored to his original glory to better live out their ‘Kratos: The Early Years’ fantasies.

The model for the Greek hero in this mod differs greatly from the now ‘original’ version that appears in the newer titles, swapping his beard out for the initial goatee and stripping the God of War staple of his iconic armor.

The God of War mod hasn’t done much else to try and age Old Man Kratos down to his former years, so his skin still looks a little wrinkled, and his tattoos still look faded from age. However, Kratos looks like the picture of youth with his almost clean-shaven face and less armor.

The modding community has always been driven to bring more advanced realism into games. This latest PC mod by Speclizer focuses on a whole new category of modding, bringing back the golden age of console classics like God of War. The game has changed a lot since the PS2 days, and the improvements have all around been widely accepted as the new status quo. But it’s always comforting to be able to return to simpler times, even in a game like God of War that has always been a console staple.

God of War’s recent successful port to PC has introduced a slew of new players to the Greek-inspired odyssey. The best thing is that, now that proper mods are a GoW reality, the developers have even given modders their blessing to change the game as much as they see fit. It’ll be interesting to see how a new breed of mods will change the face of God of War.

God of War hits 1 million PC copies

God of War went on sale for PC on January 14th, and since then, this traditionally Playstation exclusive sensation has reportedly hit a major milestone. The past two weeks have seen GOW become Sony’s biggest Steam launch, beating Horizon Zero Dawn hands-down.

It’s worthy to note that merely a day after the launch, 75000 people were playing God of War on Steam at the same time. God of War is also, at present, the best-selling game on Steam with indications that the game has even surpassed 1 million copies on PC.

SteamSpy bases its estimates on how many people own the game and have a public profile. Players who own the game but have private profiles are not counted toward the estimate. Another factor is that God of War is available on other digital PC gaming services like the Microsoft Store, Epic Games, and Humble Bundle. This means that the actual number of sales is likely much higher than 1 million

5 things to know about God for War PC

Fans of the PlayStation hit God of War are excited for the PC launch on January 12, 2022. The single-player adventure campaign follows the original trilogy with superb graphics that are only about to get better.

However, there are a few things you should know about the God of War PC version that sets it apart from the original. It’s bound to provide an enhanced experience for a game that’s already spectacular.

1. Optimized elements for PC

Fortunately, the God of War PC version isn’t a direct port. The developer didn’t simply transfer the files and expect it to work on Windows. You can expect to see vast improvements that only PC can provide, such as higher framerates and resolution. It supports NVIDIA DLSS and low-latency reflex technology, while you can access the settings to boost the performance even more.

What this means is that you won’t need to deal with outdated graphics and gameplay mechanics from 2018 when the PS4 version was released. Instead, you’ll have modern technology giving you the best God of War experience to date.

The top system categories include the following, from lowest to highest performance:

  • Minimum: 30fps, 720p
  • Recommended: 30fps, 1080p
  • High: 60fps, 1080p
  • Performance: 60fps, 1440p
