Disney has locked in Marvel Studios’ 2028 release calendar. According to the company’s official release schedule, X-Men is dated for May 5, Ghost Rider for July 28, and Black Panther 3 for December 15.
Placed after Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027, that 2028 lineup reads like Marvel’s clearest statement yet about what comes next. The post-Multiverse Saga era seems to be taking shape around three pillars: mutants, supernatural characters, and Wakanda.
The sequence says a lot on its own. X-Men kicks off the summer. Ghost Rider brings in the darker supernatural side of Marvel. Black Panther 3 gets the year’s final slot, attached to one of the studio’s biggest and most culturally important franchises. Marvel also appears to be back to releasing three films in a year, which points to a fresh level of confidence after the studio eased off that pace following 2025.
There’s also a clearer sense now of how each project is lining up behind the scenes. X-Men is already being treated by a lot of people as the main starting point for the next saga, with Jake Schreier attached and Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, and Adam Driver all reportedly in the mix. Ghost Rider reportedly has Shawn Levy set to direct, and Ryan Gosling is said to be confirmed for the lead after a Kevin Feige-backed pitch. On the Black Panther 3 side, Ryan Coogler is returning, and David Jonsson has reportedly been cast as the new Black Panther.
