Tesla has acknowledged that more than 300,000 of its electric vehicles could lose power steering assistance, which has led the manufacturer to announce a recall that affects a total of 376,241 units, including the 2023 Model 3 and Model Y.
According to the presentation by Daniel Donovan, Technical Publications Manager at Tesla, before the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem stems from a coding error that could cause engine components to experience overloads.
The affected vehicles, produced in the U.S. before the release of software version 2023.38.4, have been identified as those assembled between February 28 and October 11, 2023, for the Model 3, and between February 24 and October 11, 2023, for the Model Y.

It is estimated that only 1% of the vehicles involved in the recall have this defect, although the company has acknowledged that this situation could increase the risk of collisions. So far, no accidents, injuries, or deaths related to this issue have been reported.
