A24 has released a new trailer for the new film by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, You Can See Everything. A highly anticipated documentary shrouded in mystery, that according to its synopsis “thirty-four days before reporting to prison, the infamous Silicon Valley founder, Elizabeth Holmes, invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move. What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic criminal turns into a hallucinatory three-year journey into the abyss”.
Documentary madness
This trailer emphasizes the strangeness and unsettling nature of the whole situation, since Fielder is known for his mix of documentary and fiction where he openly and consciously manipulates both the events and those involved for his own ends. He never hides this from Holmes , and yet she seems to accept it readily. And the people around her seem to accept Holmes’s own deceptions.
Perhaps the most unsettling thing about the announcement has been that the film will be rated R in the US, for those over 18, because it will contain brief scenes of nudity and obscene language. This has made many of Fielder’s fans look forward even more to this peculiar documentary that no one really knows what to expect from.
Still, we won’t have to wait long. Its release is scheduled for October 16 and it’s expected to be one of the films in contention during the 2027 awards season, especially in the documentary category, including the Oscars. So all that remains is to see what Fielder and Oppenheim have up their sleeve not only to surprise us, but also to earn an adults-only rating.
