By early November 2026, Nintendo’s Switch 2 has become one of the year’s clearest critical hit stories. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is sitting at 96 on Metacritic, which puts it at the top of 2026’s review pile and also makes it one of the site’s best-reviewed releases overall.
Metacritic’s November 4 top-20 snapshot shows the bigger picture: nine Nintendo Switch 2 games, compared with seven on PC, three on PlayStation 5, and one on Xbox. That points to more than a single blockbuster carrying the platform. It also feels like a real break from the original Switch years, when late releases, scaled-back ports, and technical compromises came with the territory.
You can see the same change in third-party support. Resident Evil 2: Deluxe Edition is at 93 on Metacritic, and it’s joined by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. The hardware helps. Nintendo Switch 2 brings 4K output while docked, better development tools, and wider studio support.
If you’re looking for one system that can cover a lot of 2026’s best-reviewed games, Nintendo Switch 2 is making a strong case for itself. Sales had reached 26.35 million units by September 2026, software is still gaining even as hardware growth starts to slow, and analysts see a wider strategy here to compete more directly with PlayStation and Xbox, even if Nintendo exclusives will likely remain the main draw, availability won’t be consistent, and third-party commitment can still shift.
You can play these titles on Nintendo Switch 2, and several of them are also available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
