H. P. Lovecraft is one of the most prolific authors of the 20th century, and is recognized by many as one of the masters of contemporary horror. His blend of cosmic horror, thriller, and mystery has endured over the decades, and has strongly influenced dozens of subsequent authors and directors. Now, one of his most well-known works is being adapted into a film with a very interesting reinterpretation.
The Thing on the Threshold, one of the author’s most popular books released in January 1937, comes in film format by the hand of Joe Lynch, a not very well-known horror director but with a long career in the industry. The name of this adaptation is Suitable Flesh, and it is a complete reinterpretation of the original story. Below we leave you with the trailer, which promises to bring blood aplenty:
The adaptation of one of Lovecraft’s most interesting classics comes to theaters
Suitable Flesh arrives on the Shudder platform in the United States next week, and although we don’t have an international release date yet, it’s most likely to arrive during this 2024 if it finds distribution. The synopsis of the film is as follows:
“After murdering a young patient, a once highly regarded psychiatrist helplessly watches as her life turns into a nightmare of supernatural terror and gruesome deaths. Everything seems to be related to an ancient curse that appears unstoppable“.
The film is starring Johnathon Schaech, JD Evermore, Chris McKenna, Heather Graham, Judah Lewis, Barbara Crampton, and Bruce Davison. An interesting cast for a film that, despite not being on the lists of the most anticipated of this year, could become a great future surprise.
