Google has updated Pixel Weather to version 1.1.20260716.x, and the big change is a manual refresh button for the larger “Weather forecast” home screen widget on Pixel phones. Tap the new button in the top-right corner and the widget pulls in the latest forecast right there, with a spinner showing while it reloads. Handy if the widget hasn’t refreshed on its own because battery settings are too aggressive, your connection is spotty, or background activity is just running late. No need to open the full Pixel Weather app just to force an update.
The new button only shows up on the larger Pixel Weather widget. Still, when you refresh that one, any smaller Pixel Weather widgets on your home screens update too, so it helps even if you’ve got different widget sizes scattered across pages. Google also took out the left and right buttons from the Hourly and 10-day forecast cards in the Pixel Weather city feed. Now you move through those sections with a swipe. It does look cleaner. It also gets rid of an obvious visual cue for navigation.
If you use Pixel Weather widgets a lot, this is probably an update you’ll want, even though it doesn’t do anything about complaints over forecast accuracy and doesn’t add new widget styles or customization options. It comes after earlier Pixel Weather tweaks, including more colorful icons and an “Updated” time that stays visible all the time, and it’s already available through the Play Store on Pixel devices.
