With the release of iOS 27, Apple greatly strengthens protection for the youngest members of the household. Now, in a new video, the company goes over the tools that make it much easier to tailor each device to the age and preferences of our children.
More control over apps, websites, and communications
Kids’ accounts are now easier to set up and let us choose which apps remain available to those who use them. Ask to Buy lets our children request apps and games from us, while Ask to Browse brings that same idea to Safari so that we can approve new websites before the little ones can even open them.
Communication Safety, meanwhile, extends its reach in Messages and FaceTime, since it can now detect nudity, violence, and explicit images before showing them, while communication controls let us decide who our children can talk to. Alongside the other improvements to Messages in iOS 27, security takes a major step forward.
Time Allowances and Schedules let us set time limits according to the day or the activity. We can limit games during classes, extend time at specific moments, or pause access during a family meal, for example. iOS 27 turns Screen Time into a much more precise tool.
Considering that all devices in Family Sharing must be running version 27, or later, of their operating systems, this is a major improvement when it comes to managing technology as a family.
