The dystopian science fiction series ‘Silo,’ one of the biggest hits on Apple TV+, has made a mark on the television landscape since its premiere last summer. After becoming, at one point, the most-watched streaming program, fans of the series have been patiently waiting for news about its future. And now, thanks to a recent interview with Rebecca Ferguson, the series’ protagonist, we have confirmation of what awaits us.
Four seasons, and less waiting for its release
During her conversation with Steve Weintraub from Collider, Ferguson shared several details about the plans for the series. The highlight is that the second season of ‘Silo’ is already completely filmed and from this, it follows that we can expect its release before the end of 2024.
In addition, the actress has confirmed that the plot of Silo will span four seasons, coinciding with the division of the three books on which the series is based. Although seasons 3 and 4 have not yet been approved, Ferguson expressed optimism about it, indicating that, if approved, it is likely that they will be filmed simultaneously or consecutively to minimize waiting times between seasons. This strategy aims to capitalize on the ongoing success of the series and satisfy the demand of eager fans without prolonged delays.
“I think the show has an ending, and I know when it will be… To be honest, I don’t think it’s a secret. The books are the books. There are three books, and the three books are divided into four seasons. So I think, unless someone from Apple intervenes, we are absolutely fine saying that Season 1 is already done. Season 2 is filmed and will be released, and now we are considering giving the green light to Seasons 3 and 4. And I think we would maybe film them together, and that would be the end.”
By being based on an existing trilogy of books, the screenwriters have a well-defined path to follow, which undoubtedly provides certain guarantees. The series has not only captured the attention of a wide global audience, but it has also set a precedent for how book adaptations can be faithful to their original material and, at the same time, surprise viewers with unexpected twists.
